LifeNet Health provides organ recovery services for the greater Virginia area, and as the federally designated Organ Procurement Organization, serves a population of approximately 5.2 million people and over 80 hospitals.  LifeNet Health works closely with hospital staff to create donation systems within their institutions in an effort to streamline the donation process and increase donation.  LifeNet Health respects a person's right to decide about the organ and tissue donation opportunity and, to this end, honors the wishes of the individual.  Transplant coordinators are available 24 hours a day, as needed, for any questions that family members may have regarding their loved one's decision.  LifeNet Health's donor families are given special care by a staff of donor family advocates providing programming to guide them through the grieving process.
